Du brauchst:
\n– 3 cl Rye Whiskey
\n– 3 cl Cognac
\n– 3 cl roter Wermut
\n– 1 Barl\u00f6ffel B\u00e9n\u00e9dictine
\n– 2 Spritzer Peychaud\u2019s Bitters
\n– 2 Spritzer Angostura Bitters
\n– Zitronenzeste<\/p>\n

Zubereitung:
\nAlle Zutaten mit Eis in einem R\u00fchrglas kalt r\u00fchren und in ein vorgek\u00fchltes Glas (mit Eis) abseihen. Mit einer Zitronenzeste garnieren. Fertig.<\/p>\n

Tipps f\u00fcr den perfekten Vieux Carr\u00e9<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jetzt wird\u2019s ernst: Der Teufel steckt bekanntlich im Detail, und das gilt auch f\u00fcr Cocktails. Der Vieux Carr\u00e9 ist keine Ausnahme.<\/p>\n

  1. Whiskey und Cognac \u2013 die Komplement\u00e4rspieler:<\/strong> Ideal sind qualitativ hochwertige Spirits, bei denen du keinen Kompromiss eingehen solltest. Der Rye sollte nicht zu aggressiv sein, um sich mit dem milden Cognac harmonisch zu verbinden. Ein etwas \u00e4lterer, weicherer Rye kann hier Wunder wirken. Beispiel: Sazerac Rye oder Rittenhouse.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
  2. Der Wermut:<\/strong> Roter Wermut ist ein integraler Bestandteil, der dem Drink seinen weichen, s\u00fc\u00dfen Charakter verleiht. Ich empfehle Carpano Antica Formula oder Dolin Rouge, da beide eine elegante Balance aus S\u00fc\u00dfe und Bitterkeit bieten. Schlecht gew\u00e4hlter Wermut kann den Drink schnell zu s\u00fc\u00df oder zu schwer wirken lassen.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Die Schicht von Kr\u00e4utern:<\/strong> Der B\u00e9n\u00e9dictine ist die kleine, aber m\u00e4chtige Geheimwaffe dieses Cocktails. Nur ein Barl\u00f6ffel (kein Spritzer mehr!) \u2013 der Lik\u00f6r hat massives Potenzial und kann den Drink dominieren, wenn du dich nicht zur\u00fcckh\u00e4ltst. Er bringt Gew\u00fcrze, Kr\u00e4uter und Honignoten ein, die das gesamte Profil verfeinern, ohne das Gleichgewicht zu zerst\u00f6ren.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Die Bitters:<\/strong> Zwei verschiedene Bitters? Ja, das ist kein Fehler auf der Liste. Peychaud’s bringt florale und s\u00fc\u00dfliche Noten, w\u00e4hrend Angostura mit Kr\u00e4utern und W\u00fcrze die tieferen Noten unterst\u00fctzt. Du kannst damit experimentieren. Manchmal machen ein paar Spritzer mehr oder weniger Bitters beachtliche Unterschiede.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Eis, ja Eis:<\/strong> Du kannst diesen Drink on the rocks servieren, aber \u00fcbertreibe es nicht mit dem Eis. Ein bis zwei gro\u00dfe Eisw\u00fcrfel reichen. Achte darauf, dass sie so gro\u00df wie m\u00f6glich sind, um wenig Verd\u00fcnnung zu gew\u00e4hrleisten.     Geschichte des Vieux Carr\u00e9 und verwandte Cocktails<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Schnapp dir dein Glas, dann werde ich dir etwas erz\u00e4hlen: Der Vieux Carr\u00e9 wurde in den 1930er Jahren von Walter Bergeron, einem Barkeeper im Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans, kreiert. Der Name \u201eVieux Carr\u00e9\u201c leitet sich \u00fcbrigens vom franz\u00f6sischen Begriff f\u00fcr das French Quarter (Vieux Carr\u00e9 bedeutet \u201ealtes Viertel\u201c) ab, das Herzst\u00fcck der Stadt und wohl auch der Seele des Drinks. Irgendwie charmant: Ein Cocktail, der den Geist einer ganzen Stadt im Glas einf\u00e4ngt.<\/p>\n

    New Orleans ist ohnehin bekannt f\u00fcr seine ikonischen Cocktails, allen voran den Sazerac<\/em>, einen der engeren Verwandten des Vieux Carr\u00e9. Beide Cocktails zentrieren sich um Rye Whiskey und Peychaud\u2019s Bitters. Aber w\u00e4hrend der Sazerac sehr puristisch mit wenigen Zutaten auskommt, ist der Vieux Carr\u00e9 eher die „geordnete Komplexit\u00e4t“. Er bringt Whiskey und Cognac in Einklang, zusammen mit dem s\u00fc\u00dfen italienischen Wermut und dem unverw\u00fcstlichen B\u00e9n\u00e9dictine.<\/p>\n

    So wie ein guter Refrain in einem Lieblingslied, entwickelt der Vieux Carr\u00e9 seinen vollen Ausdruck nach einem ersten „Durchlauf,“ nach dem ersten Schluck. Ich mag es, Cocktails wie diesen mit dem Begriff \u201eIterationen\u201c zu beschreiben: Er ver\u00e4ndert sich nicht sofort, aber nach und nach zeigt jede Facette ihre Nuance.<\/p>\n
