Der French Connection<\/em> ist kein Cocktail, bei dem du ewig am Shaker stehen wirst. Das ist eher so ein \u201eIch laufe nachmittags an meiner Bar vorbei und will was Schnelles\u201c Drink. Ein unkomplizierter Zweikomponenten-Cocktail, aber… keine Eile. Auch wenn das Rezept extrem simpel ist, kannst du hier aus den Zutaten wirklich das Beste herausholen.<\/p>\n

1. Cognacqualit\u00e4t macht den Unterschied.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Du kannst einen etwas einfacheren Cognac (VS oder VSOP) nehmen, da der Amaretto in jedem Fall einen s\u00fc\u00dfen Mandelcharakter reinbringt, der das Ganze rund und sanft macht. Allerdings lohnen sich sehr gute Cognacs hier ebenfalls; sie bringen Tiefe und Komplexit\u00e4t in die Sache, die dem Cocktail eine zus\u00e4tzliche Dimension verleihen.<\/p>\n

2. Der richtige Amaretto.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Klar, du kannst zum Standard-Amaretto greifen, aber wenn du dir mal die Zutatenliste der unterschiedlichen Marken anschaust, wirst du merken, dass es da gravierende Unterschiede gibt. Amaretti auf nat\u00fcrlicher Basis (also ohne k\u00fcnstliche Aromen) lassen deinem Cognac mehr Raum und wirken \u201ehonigartiger\u201c statt mit \u00fcberzuckertem Marzipan-Effekt.<\/p>\n

Gutes Eis (ja, das ist ein Ding \u2013 keine labbrigen Eisw\u00fcrfel!) k\u00fchlt deinen Drink sch\u00f6n gleichm\u00e4\u00dfig und verw\u00e4ssert ihn nicht zu schnell. Willst du richtig fancy sein? Nutze einen gro\u00dfen Eisw\u00fcrfel \u2013 er sieht nicht nur cool aus, sondern schmilzt auch langsamer.<\/p>\n

4. Verh\u00e4ltnis der Zutaten.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

W\u00e4hrend das Standardverh\u00e4ltnis von 1:1 lobenswert simpel ist, kannst du ruhig etwas experimentieren. Bist du mehr der Cognac-Fan? Dann probier mal 45 ml Cognac und nur 15 ml Amaretto. Oder, wenn du eher den s\u00fc\u00dferen Zahn hast, gib dem Amaretto die Oberhand.<\/p>\n

5. Geschmackskombinationen mit Zigarren oder Snacks.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Dieser Drink eignet sich hervorragend als Begleitung zu einer Zigarre \u2013 ja, das volle Klischee eines gem\u00fctlichen Abends. Oder, etwas weniger dramatisch: Nuss-Snacks (Pekann\u00fcsse oder kandierte Mandeln) oder sogar etwas Dunkelschokolade passen wunderbar dazu.<\/p>\n

Der French Connection<\/em> stammt vermutlich aus den 1970er Jahren und wurde nach dem gleichnamigen Film (\u201eThe French Connection<\/em>\u201c, 1971) benannt, in dem harte Cops, Drogenhandel und jede Menge Spannung involviert waren. Es gibt zwar keine expliziten Aufzeichnungen, die das belegen, aber der Name scheint in die damalige kriminelle Atmosph\u00e4re zu passen \u2013 und vielleicht war er ein Getr\u00e4nk f\u00fcr die harten Typen der Zeit.<\/p>\n

Ob der Drink wirklich aus Frankreich stammt? Nicht unbedingt. Aber hey, der Cognac gibt ihm zumindest ein bisschen \u201efranz\u00f6sischen Chic\u201c.<\/p>\n
